Great news it looked like a couple of Saturday's team were having a little sulk about it already judging by the way they played. It would be great if we could get Tarkowski too.

So we are buying a 29yo centre back from a club relegated last season, unable to break into the top half of the championship this season because they can't stop conceding goals? Our head of recruitment needs to go back to Burnley.

The Dwight Gayle rumour is still doing the rounds. It is difficult to know if it is true or not. Gayle's numbers look great he is versatile and quick and is willing to take on a player yet Palace are still not flush with strikers and may not be willing to part with him even though he isn't getting much game time. One possibility is that Palace sign another striker. Slimani is the name that is being linked despite the fact that he signed an extended contract with his current club last summer. There may be a deal to be done if the planets line up that is.

Seen multiple times we're going for loic remy now, a great player and if we get him a great signing - probably around 15m; and after getting 8m for grabban can't see why we wouldn't go for him.

Agree0 Disagree1

12 Jan 2016 16:11:18
Think we should go get him before someone else snaps him up ! quality goalscorer, amazed the special one didn't play him more often.

12 Jan 2016 20:12:23
At a guess this player is on wages that would break our structure and secondly he would probably want the prospect of Champions League football I agree with you on regarding his abilities however realistically he is only a loan prospect even though we could afford the fee that he would command.

12 Jan 2016 12:50:53
James Tarkowski of Brentford may be a target there is rumoured interest from Burnley and WBA he's a CB with just over a year left on his contract.

Grabban gone for 8 mill, good deal, now let's hope there's a few coming through the front door, especially after watching a very poor display on Saturday. We really do lack creative flair and genuine pace.

Oscar Cardozo rumour is doing the rounds Paraguyan striker ex Benfica legend square wheeled 6'3" finisher. 33 years old with one heck of a goal scoring record albeit in lesser leagues than the prem.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2016 13:59:07
Hope not, to old, would have liked to see Grabban out the door, especially at the rumoured 8 mil, then have a punt on the lad from Wolves. Gayle from palace is another lad who is a natural goal scorer. Definitely need a quality centre midfielder, really like the boy Pritchard, but can't see that happening. Then there's the obvious centre half position, maybe Davis at Hull or Caulker. Thoughts anyone??

11 Jan 2016 21:25:31
Eder is a possibility. That would be a vast improvement on Grabban.

08 Jan 2016 19:11:58
Timm Klose is a CB target interestingly the Kone deal with Sunderland fell though.

Would rather have NEVEN SUBOTIC for around 10 million pounds

05 Jan 2016 21:46:07
Hi There. First time on here and only ever read comments before but had to comment myself on the Tottenham rumour for Redmond, If this is true and Tottenham want as claimed to off load Townsend for 10 Mil. straight swap and 3.5 Mil in our sky rocket what a deal. I would walk the papers for signing to London myself for that deal. Mind you seems same thing for Norwich transfers first bit of business sell players.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2016 13:24:05
Believable but would rather keep redmond; Townsend is dead weight and boring.

06 Jan 2016 14:13:45
Really???? Townsend has been one of the only decent players to play for England even when he hasn't been play regular for his club. Just think how good he would be if he does!!! Would hate to see Redder's leave but it wouldn't be a bad deal!!

06 Jan 2016 15:33:24
Redmonds got more potential; he's already played more games for England (at all levels) than townsend

07 Jan 2016 01:22:31
I sometimes wonder what people see when watching football. All I see in Redmond is when receiving the ball is to slow the play up to allow the defence to get back and then have to try to beat someone in front of him which more times than not he fails. When we play the bigger teams the plan looks like to try and catch them on the break which dosen.t bode well when your slowing the play up. I maybe wrong and will probably find out by all of you that reply but I don't think he has the pace he is given credit for and can't pass the salt on the dinner table. The difference between Redmond and Townsend is only 2-3 years. I would bet my next wage packet that given a good run in the side Townsend would show his class and ability and given a month or so most fans would be saying Redmond "WHO".

07 Jan 2016 19:31:46
Townsend is an excellent player. He has been rumoured to have fallen out of favour of late and there are reports of some sort of bust up with the staff at Spurs. That sort of incident true or not is highly damaging to a players appeal as a potential transfer target.

{Ed001's Note - not a rumour, it was confirmed by the club and he was disciplined over a refusal to take part in a warm up and other incidents. He is an average player as well. Just quick.}

07 Jan 2016 19:38:55
Why so quiet on Pinto? One report suggests we are waiting for work permits. This is clearly wrong Pinto is an EU citizen so he doesn't need a work permit. This leaves us with a medical problem or some sort of legal glitch or counter offer or failure to agree terms with the player. Something isn't right. If it were we'd have announced his signing. Perhaps we are slow playing as Debuchy and Byram are now potentially in play. Who knows?

08 Jan 2016 18:57:39
Townsend is a ball hog with a gambling problem. believe

08 Jan 2016 18:59:06
Townsend is a complete hogger, stay away

10 Jan 2016 12:09:13
So was huckerby and he was one of the best players we ever had and didn't hear to many people moan about him! Experienced premier league player and international. Never going to happen though so no point worring about it!!

18 Jan 2016 17:00:57
Huckerby was a legend and great to watch. Someone once described him a a speedboat without a rudder. Very quick and it was uncertain that even he knew where he was going to go next- so what chance did opposing defenders have?

Townsend by contrast is a different player and more predictable. Defenders know he's going to cut in and shoot.

05 Jan 2016 12:47:53
Reports are circulating about a renewed interest in Baffo. First an alleged sighting on a private flight then a denial by a journalist who is known to have good contacts at NCFC (perhaps returning a favour) . With Ryan Bennett now looking like he might make good on the promise he showed earlier in his career a move for Baffo might stack up particularly as Ranochia's mum won't let him move out of Italy. The only problem is that Baffo is signed on a three year deal and his club are still in with a shout for promotion. If this rumour is to be believed Baffo will need to have a buy out clause in his current contract. For a player of his potential this is quite likely.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jan 2016 16:41:29
Who is baffo?

11 Jan 2016 21:28:16
Swedish u21 CB or was playing 2nd div Germany. I think this rumour was incorrect though although we did apparently have a previous interest.

03 Jan 2016 18:45:53
It seems that Lafferty to Leeds is a done deal and maybe Hooper to Wednesday will become permanent.
Also think that Ruddy will be off as I don't think he is a bench warmer.
Grabban needs to go and would be good business to offload him to the Cherries if we are to move forwards.

Agree0 Disagree1

04 Jan 2016 23:49:13
Well, we are certainly moving a lot of forwards

05 Jan 2016 15:59:45
It is difficult to see how we can sell any player to Bournemouth during the current window. If that player should for any reason make the difference between us or them being relegated it will be the most spectacularly bad decision ever. The bid for Ruddy is possibly genuine however it may also be intended to sow the seeds of discontent (as is the rumoured interest in Dorrans). Will Bournemouth feint bids on every player we move to the bench? I wouldn't bet against it. Last time out these sorts of antics put Grabban on tilt. This time it is surely intended as more of the same. Ruddy and Dorrans are good players and professionals who have both made significant contributions thus far. Neil is not a vindictive man as he has shown that he will drop players but also that he will reinstate them in the side too. Plus we are only halfway there. If any of these players are serious about leaving for Bournemouth then perhaps they doubt their own abilities or maybe underestimate them. If they are true winners they will have no thoughts other than to stand up and be counted and win back their starting berths instead of leaving when the job is only half done.

31 Dec 2015 15:46:56
Rannochina CB at Inter has apparently been the subject of NCFC bid. Kone from Lorient was another of our targets looks to be going to Sunderland as his club have accepted Sunderlands bid. Rannochina looks like a long shot. He has never played outside Italy Kone by contrast is more international in outlook having moved to France making a move to the uk something that he is likely to be happy with. Rannochia by contrast is probably going to have to get Mama to agree which she isn't going to as Bologna is only two hours drive away. The bid hasn't been accepted either. Caulker is another possible if a deal hasn't already been sown up with Palace (Gayle might be going the other way) . If Kone was good enough we should have outbid Sunderland. It would be easy to repeat our failures of the last window at this rate. An offer is only any good if it is accepted.

{Ed002's Note - Andrea Ranocchia has attracted the recent interest of Sevilla and Norwich City as they continue to look at centre backs but it is Bologna who Inter have been negotiating with.

A bid for NKoulou is not out of the question.}

Debuchy on loan from Arsenal

02 Jan 2016 15:00:19
That would be nice but unlikely. Roma are apparently interested although Debuchy is supposed to favour a move to France. In any case he is a RB and we we need a CB. Recent reports indicate that Ranochia is going to reject Norwich.

02 Jan 2016 21:37:14
Apparently in the last few minutes there has been a 13.5 million bid from Tottenham for Nathan Redmond, what do you make of this?

05 Jan 2016 10:57:27
If true we will be in for Byram and we'll get Pritchard too but Redmond has been a big player for us and it would be risky replacing him. In anycase Redmond would probably struggle for game time at Spurs so he may be best served by staying.

25 Dec 2015 20:48:07
Haller a young French Striker from Utrect and CB Neidermeier a near out of contract 29 year old from Stuggart are being looked at. Naismith may also still be a target.

This is worrying (if true) . (Also Pink'un alert) :

An interesting conversation

I have considered long and hard whether to hit the post button on this, but have decided that I shall give it a go. I have very recently had a long chat with a guy (who shall remain nameless for his sake) that I have known in passing for a few months. It turns out he is very well respected within professional football and is currently on staff for a football team that plies their trade in the Football League. He also has very close links with Norwich City and has a good understanding of the inner workings at Colney. This was all confirmed when a very well known international turned up, 5 minutes after our chat. Now I never claimed anything like this before, and that is down to the fact that I have never had a source share information as openly with me quite like this man.

The suspicions of many who post on here, including myself, that something is rotten in the state of Denmark, prove to be quite true. There are deep seated issues within the club that can be sourced back to two individuals that are currently employed in senior positions in the Norwich City hierarchy. Unlike my source, who I don't wish to name, the troublemakers at the club I am prepared to mention.

The first is our CEO. It appears that far from being the saviour of Norwich City as many have branded him, David McNally is now proving to be a hindrance to the club, especially when it come to transfer dealings. It appears that due to previous dealings, especially with departing players, when McNally has reneged on paying "loyalty" bonuses (paid to players that are sold, but are still in contract and did not hand in a transfer request), he has gotten himself somewhat of a reputation amongst the agents and many of them flat out refuse to deal with him at all. The latest of which is Bradley Johnson, who is alledgedly owed a six figure sum that McNally has apparently refused to pay, thus breaching the player's contract. So it appears that there is money available to spend on new players, but because our CEO does not honour contracts, the pool of players that we have to choose from is decreasing after each transfer saga he is involved with. So with that in mind, and the shambolic summer window seeming to back up this claim, I wouldn't expect the much needed defensive reinforcements or the 15-20 goal a season striker required to arrive during the January transfer window if McNally continues in his role at the club.

The second rotten apple spoiling the barrel is a name that has quite often avoided any criticism on here, but it seems their influence has been growing like Japanese Knotweed, and this has had a very negative affect on players and staff at the club. I am referring to our Technical Director Ricky Martin. Apparently this man is the cause of many problems, is responsible for breakdowns many in relationships, has forced out good staff that have not pandered to his wishes on his way up the clubs employment ladder and is the least popular and respected member of staff on the books at Norwich. Another acquaintance of mine (who again has very close links to Norwich City and I have known for nearly 25 years) interrupted our conversation, had nothing positive to say about Martin and would only refer to him as an "interesting" fellow. Martin has employed underhand tactics such as stealing proposals from staff he has forced out of the club and passing them off as his own. He has repeatedly applied for jobs at the FA with his applications refused without interview. On many occasions he has gone to the current manager to try to increase his involvment in first team matters, despite lacking coaching badges and qualifications. One specific incident that was brought to my attention during our discourse involved one of the Murphy twins not going out on loan to MK Dons a few seasons ago. Martin received a phone call from MK Dons and not wanting to lose Josh from his reserves team he neglected to pass on this message. It was not until Murphy had a discussion with his agent about the lack of loan opportunities that had come his way, that he discovered the approach had been covered up by Martin, leaving Josh peeved to say the least. Now if this man is prepared to sacrifice the development of promising players because it suits his own personal agenda, much like our contract breaking CEO he needs to be shown the door.

And on a side note, Lambert was and continues to be, respected and held in high regard by nearly all of the staff members that remain from his time incharge. Except of course the man who he has kept in a job, David McNally and Ricky Martin. Thought that might cheer you up Waveney. And I will say this following my chat, the opinion I formed as to what happened during the Lambert exit saga has now been dramatically altered and it appears that Lambert was more pushed than jumped.

I'm deeply sceptical about any validity in the claims.

If you look at all the main criticisms and contentions I don't think they can't be shot down with a degree of reason

1/ Whilst McNally may be hindering our transfer activity with prudence, if there was any truth in with holding bonuses a public slagging match and lawsuit would inevitably follow, with the agents leaking the info to try and pressure us to pay up. This also would presuppose that the rest of the board agree with conducting affairs in this manner and I don't buy that either.

2/ Agents won't deal with McNally! Realy?! Most agents I'm quite sure would sell their own mother for their own benefit, so if we are offering the biggest transfer fee and wages for any given player then I find it very difficult to believe that they would suddenly find principles in not wanting to deal with him. And again those agents that represented Bradley and any other alleged victims would be frothing at the mouth about it because again they would want their cut. If it were breach of terms they would take us to the cleaners not quitely sulk and resolve not to do business with us again.

3/ as for Ricky Martin, if all of those allegations were true, why has no manager or player shown any objection to him continuing. If a hot young prospect like Josh was wronged in the alleged way, why did not only he, his agent and his family scream blue murder? In an era of player power and in light of this and presumably other allegations from other wronged staff might RM be held to task. May be not publicly (Although with twatter maybe even publicly!) but such a devisive and unpopular charactor would surely be marginalised or gotten rid of?

4/How from conversation from this one man who at least at the moment appears to work for another club in the FL, he can assertain that Lambert is universally popular with everyone he worked with who is still at the club is beyond me!

It could of course all be true, but it smells like sour grapes from someone with an axe to grind.

So reports have it, don't know a thing about him other than he's getting rave reviews. But sadly not a "name" to get overly excited about IMO, so will have to wait and see what happens for real in January.

14 Nov 2015 10:39:59
Ragnar Sigurdsson has only 6 months left of his contract with FC Krasnodar. Get him. Big and strong centre back.

Just sold PLAYER OF THE SEASON Bradley Johnson (fans favourite)for a pathetic 6million, were a joke club and deserve to go down now absolute joke ncfc board is money obsessed

All the board want to do is make money and not make our club better sold one of our good players get the board out and get some one in how do care

01 Sep 2015 18:36:00
This is the weirdest deal ever. They don't need the money as there is masses of millions available which they have not even spent yet. Everyone has nearly been free in some way except for a couple.
So where is the replacement cover for Johnson?

I'm confused by this!

01 Sep 2015 18:49:37
Plenty of cover for Johnson ie Brady and Dorrans plus squad has plenty of midfielders when Mulumbu is back. Still I'm sorry to see him go as he's been a superb player for us. Has been benched a lot so maybe he has pushed for a move. He deserves to be playing.

01 Sep 2015 19:38:52
Small consultation Matt Jarvis signed as his replacement ,still poor window ,

01 Sep 2015 20:01:55
Disappointing transfer window. completely gutted by the lack of premiership class players, what are the board playing at???

why was Bradley johnson sold??? answer please Mr McNally.

did we sign Matt Jarvis?? can't find any confirmation of it

02 Sep 2015 10:48:58
Watford and Bournemouth get promoted and build a premiership squadntomtry and stay in this leaugue what ever the cost, we get promoted through the moneynrich playoffs and build an average 11 players saving as mjch money as possible and sell are player of the season to make back ttansfer money and end up with by far the weakest squad in the league

02 Sep 2015 10:57:53
Also we've kept someone whos not fit to wear the norwich shirt (grabban) and sold are most passionate hard working player who no doubt was a role model and favourite in the dressing room

03 Sep 2015 01:03:25
We couldn't sell Grabban. No chance we are selling him to Bournemouth unless Hell is forecasting snowy weather. Firstly we don't want to sell to rival and secondly we can't reward toddlerish behaviour. He is on the naughty step now/ grounded/ no more sweeties and definitely no more day trips to Rotherham.

05 Nov 2015 14:17:23
"All the board want to do is make money"

And a good thing they do, whoever heard of a business that didn't aim to make money?

Having an income of £120 Million doesn't mean there is £120 Million in the bank. Its paid over three years. that's £40 Million per season. The last club wage bill was announced as £44 Million per season. So that's an instant shortfall of £4 Million per season.

So, in order to build up a squad, the club needs to make money in additional ways.Such as selling players who are no longer guaranteed a place in the 1st team. Which BJ wasn't. And that was the Managers choice to accept the bid, not the Boards.

Football is a business first, a sport second. We may not like it but that is how it is.So our club has to be ran as a business. And it is. Just as well really, if it was ran by some of our fanciful fans who live with their heads in the clouds, we'd go out of business within a year.

08 Jun 2016 15:43:12
We're a football club not a business
Yes, making money is important but the football is the most valuable and the board don't acknowledge that

Agree0 Disagree5

01 Sep 2015 18:56:22
I heard that we couldn't pull this one off as Palace are said to have been unable to get a replacement lined up in time. At least that was the hogwash that went out as the excuse. The bottom line is that we did too little too late. This player could have been signed early in the summer. However with Murray being sold that changed Palaces position. Bournemouth basically did us in the transfer market. Unbelievable. We were totally done over. Someone should lose their job over it.

Think the 2 Congos will do great for Norwich. Mulumbu says he will score goals.

The Walters rumour looks viable he is a Prem striker able to play one up top. I don't see it myself but he gets games at Stoke and they are no mugs.

27 Aug 2015 14:10:31
Norwich are locked in negotiations with Napoli for their centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.

Must be favorites to sign him as Southampton who were also interested are confident they will be able to prise defender Virgil van Dijk away from Celtic

28 Aug 2015 09:43:00
Norwich rumoured to have made ~8M pound bid, Napoli said to be wanting more like 11million. If clubs don't want or need to get rid of a defender this must be the worst time to put a bid in?

28 Aug 2015 13:39:50
Apparently Bayer Leverkeusen are also in the running for Koulibaly.

27 Aug 2015 13:18:37
Michael Turner has joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan.

It was expected that Michael Turner would sign permanently and Gary Hooper would sign on a season long long.

Is there anything to read into this.

Grabban is almost definitely on his way out of the club. Does that mean that Gary Hooper is now required?

Are we after Virgil Van Dijk and Gary Hooper is bate.

If both Grabban and Hooper leave we will need two forwards not one. Gayle and Benik Afobe would be a good option.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2015 14:20:23
I agree Gayle and Afobe would be great additions, young hungry and with pace! Also now Turner has gone we must have a replacement lined up, hopefully Koubaily or nkoulou
