Lewis Grabban set to put in a transfer request at Norwich as his efforts to force through a move to Bournemouth take a new twist

Agree3 Disagree0

26 Aug 2015 13:56:01
Bournemouth have offer 2 million for Grabban, less than Norwich paid for him last year.

Grabban walking out at Rotherham has weakened Norwich's hand.

To remove their investment in Grabban they need at least 5 million.

At best you could say Grabban in a good Championship striker. He is out of his depth in the Premiership.

It has been reported that Wolves have turn down Norwich 3rd Offer of 10 Million for Benik Afobe. If Norwich want him they will have to pay over the odds.

Alex Neil flew to Marseille on Sunday with Chief Exec, David McNally by private jet to watch Marseille thump Troyes 6-0.

Neil was watching Marseille's Cameroon International, Nicolas Nkoulou. He is a team mate of Bassong so there might be some mileage in this.

WOLVES TRYING TO SCARE US OFF WITH A 14m PRICE TAG DO THE BOARD PUT THERE HANDS IN THERE POCKET WHAT YOU THINk ???

26 Aug 2015 13:15:14
14 mill for a championship player football gone mad time to move on .

26 Aug 2015 13:30:36
14m is a lot of money, maybe do a money plus player deal, like hooper, grabban or lafferty as part of the deal so we can snap him up.

26 Aug 2015 13:32:30
Not at £14 million; they only paid £2 million for him in January.

26 Aug 2015 15:37:42
Would rather stump up another mill and go for Austin!

28 Aug 2015 18:28:23
@Diderot - what Wolves paid for him in January is utterly irrelevant. It has no bearing on his value now.

His value now is whatever any club is willing to pay for him.

25 Aug 2015 16:04:42
Apparently we've upped the bid for Afobe to in the region of 8 million but wolves are going to reject it, how much more is he worth?

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Aug 2015 18:28:26
He's a good player but it's starting to get a bit pricey. Well I guess that's young English talent for you.

25 Aug 2015 18:46:49
No Hooper or Grabban in the side at Rotherham. RVW playing up front on his own.

25 Aug 2015 20:58:00
Apparently Grabban has walked out!

26 Aug 2015 08:59:57
so we just swap Grabban for Michail Antonio.

26 Aug 2015 10:25:42
The Afobe valuation by Wolves was a predictable move. A player they wish to keep, multiple bidders (possibly), the timing is terrible too -so late in the window. This deal would have had a far greater chance of success early in the window and now makes the Gestede transfer look like a bargain.
Nonetheless this deal might still happen. Afobe has the same agent as Dorrans,Howson,Snodgrass and Wisdom. This will help. Wolves want other bidders and in particular they want Newcastle and their massive cheque book to join the fray.
The valuation is clearly nonsense given that Austin can be bought for £15m which in itself is also a daft valuation. Even if Newcastle are willing to get near that price for Afobe, which is doubtful, the player is far more likely to be given game time at Norwich. The action is now with other bidders if there are any. If not the next moves are either a revised Norwich bid or the player puts in a transfer request ( which he will probably be reluctant to do). If he does this the Wolves board will not be holding such a strong hand and they will not be able to hold out for a top dollar. In a negotiation like this just the threat of a transfer request has some value. The most pressing problem for Wolves however is in finding a quality replacement at short notice. Loza or Lafferty on a 1 year loan might give them time. £10-11m may be a price worth paying for Afobe and will give the Wolves board a fig leaf of respectability if they do sell. It's complicated but it is a deal that can be done. It would be great news if we can land this player.

26 Aug 2015 10:46:18
All good points, I agree with the loan aspect, maybe Hooper if it gets Afobe in

24 Aug 2015 15:35:54
If the rumour about Jonathan Walters was not bad enough, we are now supposedly preparing a bid for Glen Murray, I would rather we didn't get anyone in than these two. No disrespect to lower level clubs but these to are really not what a prem club should be looking at

Agree1 Disagree1

25 Aug 2015 00:37:09
Agree 100%!

25 Aug 2015 09:53:00
Spot on! We don't need someone's cast offs!

27 Aug 2015 21:16:00
Glen Murray is a great player, I'd be happy with him at Norwich

23 Aug 2015 15:05:56
I have heard several rumours coming from people inside the club who are saying that Loic Remy is the one heading to Carrow road on a season long loan.As Chelsea have now signed Pedro Remy's game time will become less and this is now looking to happen within the next few days.OTBC.
With Neil failing to land his Targets he now has this opportunity to work with a classy striker for which he has been searching for all season.

23 Aug 2015 15:52:29
Would love this one to happen, big questions must be his salary, I dread to think what he is on, possible only if Chelsea subsidise his big packet. Oo wer

21 Aug 2015 15:59:25
Jonathan Walters. please tell me this is some kind of a sick joke

21 Aug 2015 18:01:01
Hopefully another player using city to get a better contract ,he wants 3yr Stoke offering 2yr .

21 Aug 2015 21:17:09
No No and No to walters. only good memory of him was his missed penalty!!

21 Aug 2015 23:29:49
We are obliged to make a bid due to the Stoke fixture tomorrow. It's traditional during the window. We don't want to buy him just bid on him. No need to panic.

21 Aug 2015 13:01:26
Been hearing this morning from a source very close to the club that there are 3 strikers being courted by Bristol City at the moment. If Fulham sign Gayle then Matt Smith would be surplus to requirements. Equally the same is being said about Gary Hooper of Norwich, the third a bit less likely but maybe a move for ex City man Sam Baldock. Also looking at premiership defender.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2015 10:14:31
Apparently we're now rumoured with Jelavic!
Please no way! Think we should pursue Afobe but think he may cost 8mill if Gayle is 6 and Gray is 7

20 Aug 2015 10:55:49
I would rather have
M'Baye Niang

20 Aug 2015 20:31:11
Why not swap Hooper for Sam Byram Leeds?

21 Aug 2015 21:18:40
like the idea of afobe, young so time on his side and a compliment to Jerome, would be happy to offload Grabban if he signed

19 Aug 2015 14:20:43
Norwich are keen on a loan deal for Oussama Assaidi currently plying his trade in Dubai .Stoke winger Peter Odemwingie is seen as a potential back up loan deal

Agree1 Disagree1

19 Aug 2015 12:08:06
It could be all change on the striker front at Norwich

a) Norwich have made a substantial offer for Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Benik Afobe. This fits what we have been saying young, fit, fast and he played with Nathan Redmond in the European Under-21 Chamionships.

b) Norwich Have also cast an eye over Nikica Jelavic. Although he played for Hull last season in the premiership he doesn't fit the bill. Reportedly on 55,000 a week, expensive at 6 million for his age.

c) Bournemouth could be interested in resigning Lewis Grabban, Norwich want close to 10 million for him. If they got offered that I would snap Bournemouth's hands off.

d) Celtic, Middlesborough and Hull all interested in Gary Hooper.

Agree4 Disagree1

19 Aug 2015 21:48:46
I cannot see Bournemouth paying anywhere near that. They know exactly how good he is, and they wouldn't want to pay over double what they sold him for so recently.

20 Aug 2015 15:10:29
Adobe is an exciting prospect however with the value of Prem football it is difficult to see Wolves selling. It is a bit like us asking them to trade a promotion opportunity for the profit in selling us this player. This is one for January if at all and only then if Wolves are out of the promotion race. Our board must be aware of this.

18 Aug 2015 17:15:16
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Norwich have entered the race to sign Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly before the transfer window closes at the end of this month.

18 Aug 2015 22:35:19
Southampton look as though they have this one in the bag

18 Aug 2015 14:53:24
Norwich interested in winger Oussama Assaidi. He has premier league experience with Liverpool and Stoke.

Alex Neil says it is to add competition on the wing. let's hope it is just that.

Middlesbrough will sign Norwich City striker Gary Hooper on loan, if they can agree a compromise with Norwich over his £30k a week wages.

Mustapha Carayol will re-join Chris Houghton at Brighton on loan before the window closes.

'Boro also looking at handing a trial to former Leeds Utd, Blackburn and England Goalkeeper Paul Robinson who is a free agent.

18 Aug 2015 13:58:15
Hooper said only yesterday he wants to force his way into norwich's starting line up so that he can get international recognition. That won't happen at Middlesbrough.

20 Aug 2015 19:04:27
I hope we keep Hooper.

Sure he is a fish out of water in the manager's preferred 4231.

However if we go to a more open 442 to chase a league game or to entertain the crowds in the lesser cup games then Hooper is the perfect player.

He is also a substitute CAM for Hoolahan in the 4231 and although not quite an exact fit he is a clever enough player to do a job.

Most importantly he has good stats and offers a variation in tactics to the manager of 352, 41212 and 442. Without him those options are not so credible.

Teams will eventually work out how to set up against a pressing 4231. When they do the manager will have to change things. Hooper gives him most of these options.

If he gets a decent run out in the cup games Hooper may well force his way into contention. Either way it is great that he wants to compete for a starting place. That is exactly the sort of attitude we need and another reason why we should keep him.

18 Aug 2015 09:50:19
According to the Times

Norwich City are on the verge of a deal to sign Mattia Destro on loan from Roma.

I would hope this includes an option to buy at the end of the season.

I would think this deal must be close as there are rumours circulating that Norwich City will let Gary Hooper out on loan, The stumbling block could be they want his £32,000-a-week salary paid in full.

Agree0 Disagree2

17 Aug 2015 10:18:47
Celtic interested in re-signing Hooper.

Does this mean Norwich are closing in on a new striker?

I would settle for a swap with Virgil van Dijk moving to Norwich.

Agree0 Disagree1

17 Aug 2015 17:00:46
Don't think he would come to us unfortunately as there are far bigger teams after him.

16 Aug 2015 09:48:39
At last Norwich have shown interest in a defender James Collins of West Ham. The win at Sunderland was good but the defence still looks frail

Agree1 Disagree3

16 Aug 2015 12:10:30
I really rate Collins, not a van Dijk, but a good solid professional with huge experience. And he is better than what we've got. All I will say to the board is. PLEASE MAKE SOMETHING HAPPEN, GET THE CREDIT CARD OUT IF NECESSARY, BUT SPEND

12 Aug 2015 22:59:00
Dwight Gayle said to be completely out of favour at place to wickham & murray, and has been told that if he doesn't go to Bristol City he will be playing for the Reserves.

He wants Norwich to put in a bid but our cheap asf board won't likely let Neil spend 8m on him even though he's a proven goal scorer in the league.

Agree2 Disagree1

13 Aug 2015 17:33:13
Gale to Bristol city, McCormack staying at fulham, a sign of our clubs ambitions if we can't she'll out enough to compete with these 2clubs, no disrespect to either but come on Norwich, we are an utter embarrassment in the transfer market!!!!!!!!!

13 Aug 2015 21:07:01
The fact that those went off shows that there was never any interest. Gayle has got 1 in 164 minutes in this league - solid.

15 Aug 2015 09:20:01
I don't understand why people are getting so annoyed about us not going for him. Palace who are a team of similar size who have spent the same amount of seasons in the prem as us in the last 5 years, don't want him. The only club who are showing interest are a mid table, if they're lucky, championship club. Surely that shows what is thought of him and we should be aiming higher.

16 Aug 2015 18:16:28
Seriously? Gayle is not a player that is going to improve our team. Not even close. We need to be on a level playing field with the likes of Palace, not buying their rejects! We can/We must buy better than him. Austin (£15m), Destro (£14m) are far far far better options! Gayle is a very negative move

17 Aug 2015 09:16:40
Rgrimz, nice to see that there is someone out there talking sensible:)

17 Aug 2015 13:03:21
Thanks McVeigh! Its just common sense though! I'm sure he did have a good (ish) season last year but realistically he is not the type of player that will seperate us from a releagtion scraping team to a mid table finish team. IMO, yes to Van Dijk, Yes to either Austin or Destro and then we have a solid looking team. If its takes Hooper to get Van Dijk then so be it, and then let's shift the deadwood like Turner, Van Wolfswinkel and O'Neil

17 Aug 2015 19:54:19
Did u ever wonder why Austin never went to Hull. Read Steve Bruce's quote on the subject and think about what else he could mean. Failed medical? For what exactly? Then there is the subject of his ridiculous price tag. This one isn't going to happen. Good player though.

12 Aug 2015 21:20:21
Dwight Gayle stall on his move to Bristol City as he would prefer to stay in the Premiership with Norwich City

Agree2 Disagree1

11 Aug 2015 20:47:20
A day of rumours. Including a slight link to Austin and a report that Veltman is in the medical stages, according to a Dutch paper that doesn't exist.
And of corse the previously mentioned 'Player out of favour at team that came second in domestic league and is too expensive for Bologna has a deal agreed with Norwich' (Quintero)
And Destro too.

Agree0 Disagree3

12 Aug 2015 08:46:16
All these rumours of Quintero, Destro, Veltman are all rubbish, I can't see one of these players coming to norwich, I would love to see it happen but the fact is non of these types of players won't be coming to Norwich,

We are desperate for a couple of defenders and a striker and these are the types of player we need to stay in this league but all it has ever been all transfer window is a rumour it gets the fans excited and then nothing happens.

I'd love for Norwich to splash the cash on Veltman and van djik that would improve our defence massively, I still rate hooper and think he can do the job up front so I'm not as worried in that area but I would possibly offer QPR 10m for Austin and throw in grabban who I like but needs to many opportunities for a goal and he won't get that in this league.

12 Aug 2015 12:44:13
So you think Bologna, a team likely to complete let's the signing of Destro has more appeal than Norwich?

12 Aug 2015 18:30:53
Moussa Sow. available

13 Aug 2015 17:10:10
Norwich City have bid 4.5m for Destro. An obvious feint IMHO Destro rejected West Ham not long ago and Norwich have publicaly stated that they want British Football experience. City know Destro won't come or that their bid will be rejected. I wish the board would stop mucking about and get the manager what he wants and quickly before we cough up more points to our relegation rivals. WBA can find £12m for a striker why can't we?

14 Aug 2015 19:23:03
Our bid £4.5m, Bolgna's bid of 10m euros plus a year's salary is way better than ours.

11 Aug 2015 14:45:23
According to a few sources scattered over this internet, Alex Neil has inquired about Roma striker Mattia Destro. Have seen him play and top ten finish could be achieved with him in our squad.

Agree2 Disagree2

11 Aug 2015 16:47:52
Unlikely if man u chelsea west ham arsenal and monaco are all really interested why would he come to Norwich?

11 Aug 2015 18:06:46
It's a nice place. Lol

11 Aug 2015 18:10:48
He has rejected a move to Norwich as he wants to stay in Italy. Charlie Austin for me, pay the full asking price and his wages and let's stay in this league and grab the next big mega money payout

11 Aug 2015 19:40:47
will cost over 5 mill so won't happen .

11 Aug 2015 22:16:33
Dont think man u, chelsea, arsenal and monaco are interested. Hope Norwich have done their homework before they make any offers. let's not get too excited though, looking at his statistics for last season you wouldn't say he was a prolific striker

04 Aug 2015 18:06:38
According to tuttomercatoweb,

Norwich City have offered a 2 year contract to Porto midfielder, Juan Fernando Quintero.

Agree2 Disagree5

04 Aug 2015 19:54:19
Woah.
I mean, midfield is crowded but if that isn't a marquee, then I don't know what is. We will put so many goals in that there will be no need for defence.

05 Aug 2015 10:17:03
Quintero's bio on google says he he already plays for us?????!!!! Mental.

05 Aug 2015 21:08:19
Go get him

06 Aug 2015 10:45:58
With our relegation rivals able to sign the likes of Max Gradel and MVilla the pressure is on our board to make some world class signings.

06 Aug 2015 12:43:27
Gradel couldn't cut it in the championship with Leeds, far too small for prem, let Bournemouth keep him

06 Aug 2015 15:50:21
Mourinho thinks he's good enough to play for Chelsea you know better of course.

04 Aug 2015 11:56:47
I hear that Norwich are looking to sign maxim from the German league would be a good signing

Dieumerci Mbokani has posted an intriguing picture on his instagram account earlier today. It shows him at the airport. Nothing too controversial surely? Except the rest of the Kiev team are elsewhere.

Is he on his way to Norwich there have been rumours Norwich are in the market for another striker.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2015 06:38:50
Hope that this is true. If they can accomplish this and bring in Virgil van Dijk from Celtic (with perhaps Hooper being used as bait), I will consider this a very productive transfer window.

03 Aug 2015 15:09:34
There are a couple of twitter feeds, a couple in the Ukraine and one from Belgium, reporting that the deal has been done. Don't know whether they should be trusted or not.

04 Aug 2015 21:57:15
Van Dijk is a massive long shot Everton is a more likely destination however if Stones is not sold then who knows.

11 Aug 2015 22:04:02
If there are twitter feeds then it must be true.
