Are we still looking to sign Kara Mbodj from Racing Genk? Very impressive defender/CDM who can easily play at a much higher level. Apparently Leicester are now making an attempt to sign him.

Apparently the usual dubious media sources are linking us with Bamford. Not sure whether it's a loan or outright purchase. Quality player but I think we could and should aim higher.

Word around the camp fire is that a deal is nearly done for Gestede. Not too sure about whether this is the answer to our collective prayers.

Apparently Southampton have agreed terms with Celtic for van Dijk; around £10 million. This would leave us a touch closer to getting Koulibaly from Napoli, although I still feel it is real tough ask.

I wish to echo some of the concerns expressed by several posters yesterday. In the past 24 hours we appear to have let 2 more rumoured targets slip, with Patrick Bamford signing for Palace on a year's loan and now Rudy Gestede apparently on the verge of joining Watford.
The latter club who like us came up last season from the Championship, have already signed over 10 players with another 3-4 on the cusp. Most of these are seasoned European campaigners (Holebas, Behrami, etc) while hanging on to Deeney and Vydra. All other 19 teams in the Premiership have already moved to reinforce and refresh their squads, yet we have done next to nothing. It is both monumentally frustrating and worrying in equal measure, with less than 3 weeks to kick-off. It is also somewhat humiliating to be honest. Surely money cannot be that tight FFS?

Hope so. Much better value than Afobe. We are also now down to 3-1 with the bookies to sign Charlie Austin.

Apparently Bayer Leverkeusen are also in the running for Koulibaly.

Not at £14 million; they only paid £2 million for him in January.

Hope that this is true. If they can accomplish this and bring in Virgil van Dijk from Celtic (with perhaps Hooper being used as bait), I will consider this a very productive transfer window.

Totally agree. An absolutely embarrassing shambles from start to the anti-climatic finish. Apparently zero strategy in terms of potential targets and ultimately degenerating into farcically reactive and desperate bids for any generic striker that might be available (Afobe, Naismith, Gayle, etc. ). As for the defensive requirements, the situation is truly dire. No Koulibaly or Nkoulou, not even James Collins! NOBODY!!!! Last year's player of the season is allowed to leave in order to rake in a £6 million profit. What sort of message does this transmit when our most committed player in Bradley Johnson signs with Championship Derby? The underlying agenda is highly suspect to put it mildly. It is either a case of blatant financial self-interest, monumental incompetence or most likely, both.

Heard rumours that Culverhouse may be coming to us after falling out with PL. Hoolahan going in the other direction.

What a total shambles. We were utterly outclassed by a poor Fulham team who were thrashed at home 4-1 by Sunderland last Saturday. Our players (unlike Fulham's) displayed zero desire, passion, appetite or interest in proceedings. The first half was one of the most abject displays I have witnessed in many a year. The players clearly have no faith in CH and with his "tactics" it is no surprise that confidence is at rock bottom. Things simply have to change now before it is too late. It is up to the board to sort this mess out so that we have the best chance of staying up.

Would be a fantastic addition although I think he would cost well north of £5 million. Not sure how we could accommodate RvW, Hooper, Finnbogason and Elmander up front even assuming that Becchio is sold.

I notice that Malaga and Valencia are both attempting to sign Lukaku on loan. Is there any chance that we could be in with a shout or do Chelsea want him to go abroad?
